Why is core training beneficial...power, stability and balance ❗️An athlete's core is involved in almost every sports action.

Here are five things to keep in mind as to why consistency in core training is important. @worlderunners

1️⃣A strong mid section helps you maintain greater stability and minimize inefficient movement...aka...run faster.

2️⃣You will be able to generate more power when you push off the ground or perform other movements that require coordination and balance.

3️⃣If you have a powerful midsection you can reduce your risk of injury by helping to stabilize other weaker areas.

4️⃣ A strong core helps protect your lower back and reduces lower back pain.

5️⃣Core training helps keep your waistline tight.


Aim to complete 3 rounds of 45 seconds "on", 15 seconds "off" of each exercise (beginners start with 15 seconds "on", and 45 seconds off, for two sets)

1. Reverse plank with leg lifts

2. Opposite arm/leg touches

3. Windshield wipers

4. Supported leg lift with controlled decent

5. Side plank lift
